Starting Friday November 26, the pick-up and drop-off point for CAT Bus riders will move from the east side of Kirkwood Mall to the north entrance underneath the canopy.
The decision was made based on the larger sidewalk area on the north side which prevents riders from having to stand close to the paths of traffic when waiting for the bus.
Increased traffic in the Kirkwood Mall parking lot during the Holiday Season also made mall management and The CAT Bus administrative staff decide to make this move during the month of December.
Since the fixed-route bus system started in 2004, it has been dropping off and picking up people on the east side of the mall between JC Penney and Target. During the Christmas shopping season, that side of the building is the main parking lot that many people drive and park in. Trying to maneuver buses in the traffic becomes difficult.
