Service Hours Changes
Beginning April 1, 2026
Bis-Man Transit fixed-route services provide essential mobility for commuters, students, seniors, and families. Existing hours leave gaps for many who work non-traditional shifts or need options beyond what is currently provided.
Similarly, the paratransit services support the elderly and individuals with disabilities who require demand-response options, yet Sunday hours remain limited. Currently, there are no public transportation options for the general public on Sundays and Holidays.
To address these needs, Bis-Man Transit collected input from the public in Bismarck and Mandan, and the City of Bismarck Transportation Steering Committee. On February 10th, 2026, the Bismarck City Commission approved Bis-Man Transit's request to expand Bis-Man Transit's service hours.
Beginning April 1st, 2026:
Fixed Route CAT Bus Service
Monday - Friday
6:00AM - 10:00PM
Saturday
7:00AM - 10:00PM
Sunday
CAT buses do not run on Sundays
Demand Response Service is available to the general public from
7:30AM - 6:00PM
Sunday / Holiday Demand Response Service
Beginning April 1st, 2026, demand response curb-to-curb service will be available to the general public within the cities of Bismarck and Mandan.
General public riders will be able to schedule rides for Sundays and Holidays. General public riders will need to follow the same guidelines for scheduling rides as paratransit riders.
Rides must be scheduled at least one day in advance (up to 14 days in advance) by calling the Bis-Man Transit scheduling office at (701) 223-9001 Monday through Sunday between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m.
When calling, have the following information handy:
- Name
- Pickup location
- Destination
- Time, date, and day of trip
- Special information like a mobility aid, or other special needs
- When you will return
When scheduling, the rider will be given a 30 minute pickup window. For an on-time pickup, a driver may show up anytime with the 30 minute pickup window. The bus will wait for 5 minutes after arriving at the pick up location before moving on to the next pickup or drop off location.
To cancel a ride, contact the Bis-Man Transit scheduling office by calling (701) 223-9001 at least one hour before the scheduled pickup time.
The cost for the demand response service will be $3.00 per ride. Sunday/Holiday demand response riders must pay with exact cash. Drivers do not carry change. Bus operators do not accept checks, credit, or debit cards.
Reduced & free fare not available for Sunday / Holiday demand response rides.
2026 Holiday Demand Response Service Hours:
Same hours as paratransit holiday service hours.
- New Year's Day: 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
- Memorial Day: 7:30 am - 1:30 pm
- 4th of July: 6:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Labor Day: 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
- Thanksgiving: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Christmas Day: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
