Bis-Man Transit Board Looking to Fill Vacant Position

Bismarck, N.D. – The Bis-Man Transit Board is seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacant position.

The Transit Board is an 11-person volunteer board serving the community with public transit, through the fixed-route Capital Area Transit (CAT) system, and the paratransit demand-response. Combined, these two services provided more than 300,000 rides last year.

“The Transit Board has grown into a very important entity over the past 25 years, said Board President Marge Ellefson. “The transportation we provide is the backbone of the community, and we are excited about the direction the organization is moving. It is an extremely interesting, and important, time to be part of the Transit Board.”

The CAT contains 12 routes totaling about 113 miles of routes throughout Bismarck and Mandan. The fixed-route system was established in 2004 and features large 30- and 35-foot buses.

Bis-Man Transit’s paratransit system provides curb-to-curb service to individuals with disabilities and to seniors over the age of 60. Bis-Man Transit is celebrating the 25th anniversary of service this year.

Transit Board members come from diverse professional backgrounds and including service, commercial, financial, customer support, among other areas. That diverse skill set is what helps drive the success of the Board.
