Bismarck, N.D. – Capital Area Transit (The CAT) will take part in Bussing with Bikes event on May 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Target parking lot at Kirkwood Mall. Bussing with Bikes is sponsored by Go! Bismarck-Mandan as part of National Bike Month. At the event, a CAT bus and staff will be available for 1-on-1 demonstrations on how to safely and securely load and unload a bike onto the bus’ bike racks.

“We are excited to get out there and meet with the public,” said Bis-Man Transit Executive Director Roy Rickert. “It is events like this that help us educate the community on the options we offer to meet their transportation needs, and enhance their lifestyles.”

“Since we’ve added the bike racks to the CAT buses, we’ve seen significant ridership every month involving people utilizing bikes,” said CAT Manager Nate Vatnsdal. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to help anyone who might be wondering how they can load their bike on one of our buses.”

There were 1,957 instances of bike usage on CAT buses in 2015, with August (221 rides) and October (229 rides) marketing the high points of usage during the year.
