CAT Bus To Celebrate 20 Years In May

April 30, 2024 -  Bismarck, N.D. – – Bis-Man Transit is excited to announce the celebration of the 20-year anniversary of the CAT bus.

 

For 20 years, residents of Bismarck and Mandan have been “catching the CAT”.  Capital Area Transit, known as the CAT, is Bis-Man Transit’s fixed-route public bus system serving Bismarck and Mandan, N.D.  The official dedication of Capital Area Transit took place on May 6th, 2004, with a ribbon cutting.  The first CAT bus rides were provided on May 10th, 2004.  Since the service began, the CAT bus has provided nearly 2-million (1,860,000) trips.  The CAT currently runs five routes in Bismarck and one route in Mandan.  Riders utilize CAT for a variety of reasons, including work, school, volunteering, shopping, and socializing.

 

Bis-Man Transit Executive Director Deidre Hughes said, “As we celebrate twenty years of the CAT bus system, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the riders, drivers, advocates, and other supporters of the service. We look forward to twenty more years of connecting neighborhoods and creating more accessible communities.”

 

To celebrate the CAT Bus 20th Anniversary, Bis-Man Transit will be offering free rides for both CAT Bus riders and Paratransit riders.  The free ride days will be offered for all hours of operation on Friday and Saturday, May 10th & 11th, and again on Friday and Saturday, May 17th & 18th.

 

The goal of Bis-Man Transit is to deliver valued public transportation, linking people, jobs and communities.
