CAT Providing Free Rides October 30-31

October 1, 2014 - Bismarck, N.D. – The Capital Area Transit (CAT) will provide bus riders with back-to-back days of no riding costs at the end of October.

The CAT’s Halloween Free Ride Days are scheduled for October 30-31, and will be the final set of free days for 2014. This is the seventh consecutive year CAT has provided fare-free fun for Halloween. The other pair of Free Ride Days is scheduled for May each year.

“We really look forward to our free ride days,” said Transit Director Robin Werre. “Not only are we giving our usual clients a thank you for riding with us, we are able to provide the perfect scenario for someone who has never caught the CAT, to give it a try.”

The 12 CAT bus routes run in Bismarck and Mandan, from about 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, depending on the route. Riders may “Catch the CAT” on any safe corner along a route by waving to the bus driver as the bus approaches. More information, including a series of “How to Ride” videos, is available online at www.thecatbus.com. The site also includes information on how to read the maps, where to find maps, and how to contact CAT staff if you have specific questions about how to negotiate the bus system on the day of your trip.

CAT is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, after providing more than 135,000 rides last year. For more information about this, and other services we provide, you can reach staff by calling 701-258-6817.
