October 28, 2014 - Bismarck, N.D. – Drivers for the Capital Area Transit (CAT) will provide a sweet treat to everyone taking advantage of the Halloween Free Ride Days at the end of this week. Candy will be available – while it lasts – for riders on Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31.
“The Halloween Free Ride Days are really a fun time for our organization and the customers we serve,” said Transit Director Robin Werre. “The candy on the buses is just one more way we are saying ‘Thank You’ to our loyal riders, and one more reason to give the CAT a try if you have never ridden before.”
This is the seventh consecutive year CAT has provided fare-free fun for Halloween. Another two-day Free Ride Days is traditionally scheduled for May of each year.
The 12 CAT bus routes run in Bismarck and Mandan, from about 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, depending on the route. Riders may “Catch the CAT” on any safe corner along a route by waving to the bus driver as the bus approaches. More information, including a series of “How to Ride” videos, is available online at www.thecatbus.com. The site also includes information on where to locate maps, how to read the maps, and how to contact CAT staff if you have specific questions about how to negotiate the bus system on the day of your trip.
CAT is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, after providing more than 135,000 rides last year. For more information about this, and other services we provide, you can reach staff by calling 701-258-6817.
