BISMARCK, ND -- The new Capital Area Transit (CAT) fixed routes went into effect on April 1, 2017. The new fixed routes were part of the service revision proposal accepted by the City of Bismarck in December 2016.
The service revisions streamlined the CAT service to six out-and-back routes with more frequent and consistent service. Fixed route service will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Saturdays, buses will provide service from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., based on individual routes.
Regular full fare trips on the CAT cost $1.50, while daily passes are $6.00 and monthly passes are $36. One-way reduced fare trips (for K-12 and college students, as well as veterans with an appropriate ID) are $.75, while daily reduced fare passes are $3.00, and reduced monthly passes are $24. Passengers that are 65 years of age or older, that are ADA qualified or receiving Medicare will be able to ride the fixed route service for free, with an appropriate Transit issued ID.
