Ost Joins BMT, CAT

August 26, 2014 - Bismarck, N.D. – Kalen Ost joined Bis-Man Transit this week as the organization’s Marketing Director/Mobility Manager. Ost will handle marketing, promotion and public relations as well as travel training programs for Capitol Area Transit (CAT) and the Bis-Man Transit door-to-door paratransit service.

“We are excited about adding Kalen to the team,” said Transit Director Robin Werre. “His background in communications should really serve as a great resource for our organization, as well as for all of the individuals we serve through the transit systems.”

Ost graduated from Dickinson State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in writing and has been working in communications for 12 years, employed by organizations such as Forum Communications and the Anne Carlsen Center. He comes to Bis-Man Transit after serving as the Online Editor for Lee Agri-Media. He and his wife, Marcy, and their son, Max, moved to Mandan in 2011.

“I’m really excited to begin working on the wide array of tasks that go into marketing an organization like Bis-Man Transit,” said Ost. “My goal is to continue to grow what is already a wonderful foundation of information and resources, and to reinforce the organization’s focus on the individuals we serve, and their experience with us.”

The CAT is the fixed route public bus system serving Bismarck and Mandan with 12 routes. CAT is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, after providing more than 135,000 rides last year. Bis-Man Transit has been serving individuals over the age of 60, as well as individuals with disabilities, since 1990 with reliable, convenient and affordable transportation – with nearly 165,000 rides provided last year.
